Below is a selection of Kimberly's work:

 "Get Some Learnin' "
 acrylic on canvas
 (2009)
I was commissioned to complete this piece by the Greater Nashville Association of Black School Educators. The theme for the event was "Education: A Civil Right".  I chose to represent various ethnicities, who all learn at the hand of the Educator. This piece was presented to the incoming President of the organization, and was well received. Prints available

Design for Tennessee State University Cooperative Extension Program Mobile Satellite Platform
 (2007)
I was commissioned to design the logo for the University's lone satellite van in 2006. This high-tech van boasts live feed capabilities, weather reporting technology and on-site production capabilities.  The purpose of the van is to make technology accessible to rural areas.  This van has travelled all over the southeast.  Visit the Cooperative Extension Program site: www.tnstate.edu/cep

"Embrace"
acrylic on canvas
(2009)

This piece, initially a class assignment, was later sold to an art enthusiast.  The assignment was to depict four found objects within a space.  We also had the choice of which style to use to define the objects.  I chose to use bold colors such as red, blue, yellow and green to add definition to what once were dull gray objects.

Postcard Series
for Falcon Feather Fibers
Art Studio

I have been commissioned as the official designer for Falcon Feather Fibers Art Studio.  I have completed one postcard for each season since the company's inception (2007), and for special occasions such as Student Recitals, a showcase of student created art.  The mission of Falcon Feather Fibers is to transform the lives of individuals through textiles.  Lessons in quilting, knittting and crochet are offered.  www.falconfeatherfibers.net

"The Scream Remix"
acrylic on canvas
(2009) after Edvard Munch

I thought it would be amusing to put myself in the place of the famous screamer.  Sometimes life makes you want to scream!  Whenever I feel the urge I look at the painting and scream...
on the inside.

Championship Ring Design--Tennessee State University Tigerbelles Track Team
(2001)
Not only did I have the privilege of assisting my team in winning the first conference championship in school history, but I was commissioned to design both the coach's and athletes' championship rings. Jostens took the sketches and constructed the rings (completed image on left).

"Seeing Red"
Acrylic on canvas
(2009)

This work was a study in value.  What I found interesting were the changes in light respective to the texture of each object.  The smooth, wooden table reflected light much like glass, while the light from the window cast a halo around the sphere (made of styrofoam).  A red glaze was applied as a finishing touch.

 "Upright Lady"
ink on paper
digitally applied lavender wash
(2009)

This piece was a collaborative effort in a design class. The assignment was to create several contour drawings, without looking at the pen or paper.   Of those drawings, my classmate drew my profile, and I drew a chair.  The second part of the assignment was to incorporate two of ten blind contour drawings into an aesthetically pleasing piece, scaled to fit a 30"x36" sheet. The third and final piece of the project was to add texture to the lines that made up the drawing. The end result is on the left.  This is one of the most interesting pieces I've done.

 "Women are Beautiful"
acrylic/collage on canvas
(2009)
This piece celebrates the uniqueness of each woman.  I painted the images without features to give the viewer a sense of connectedness with the work.  Everyone knows of a woman who is represented in this piece.  Shown at art exhibit at Tennesse State University.

This work was commissioned and auctioned for the "Women of Legend & Merit Awards". The shoe in the middle is composed of lines from 6 poems including "Beautiful Women" by Walt Whitman and "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou. Prints available
